Blaine and JoHannah’s wedding was ’90s-style, but with a modern twist that felt so them—the day started at their cozy home, where Jo got ready with that calm confidence brides dream of. How these two trusted me to capture their day made my heart burst. After a rocky experience with another vendor, they wanted someone who could make them feel seen, and from the moment we hopped on that consult call, it was game on! No hesitation, no second-guessing—they were all in, and I was so here for it. We started with their classic ceremony at Celebration Baptist Church and, of course, ended at the Great Plains Nature Center for some golden-hour magic (seriously, wait until you see those sunset shots!). This was a wedding day focused on bridal portraits, and I can’t complain!
Blaine & JoHannah’s Wichita Wedding Day
Jo started her wedding day comfortably in her own home. It was a hot July day, and the sun was shining with that spicy summer energy! After getting ready, the vibe was chill and intimate as she and her crew made their way to Celebration Baptist Church for the ceremony. This wedding was a smaller gathering—just Jo, Blaine, and their close friends and family. The reception following was short and sweet, reflecting their laid-back style and desire to be present with their loved ones. No dances, no showy events, just conversation and hugs with the ones who know them best. We started the afternoon with a fun cake cutting (I loved their naked, gluten-free cake!), and they escaped after in their decorated getaway car!
A Wedding Day Focused on Bridal Portraits
Let’s talk about these bridal portraits because they were everything! This girl came to the party with three stunning dresses to show off! First, she wore an elegant white gown with a long train during the ceremony. Then, the showstopper: a glittery, short, spaghetti-strap number for the reception. While the rain tried to crash the party during the reception, it cleared, and the sky opened up for the perfect backdrop for some nature portraits. You know, that specific glow after a rainy sesh. Jo had a long, silky dress ready for these with an extra long veil perfect for those sunset shots at the Great Plains Nature Center—chef’s kiss!
